    Zencus Field Transceiver

    Overview

    • The Zencus Field Transceiver (Wireless RTU) is the control centre for field data capture, processing, and onward long-distance data transmission to the Zencus Gateway or Client LAN.
    • It is compact and easy to install and can receive data from 200+ Zencus Mono-Transmitters within a 200m radius. In addition the Field Transceiver can easily be configured to accept input from a wide range of existing third-party devices.
    • The integral CPU permits data validation, error-correction and optional 128-bit AES encryption. Onboard data logging, intelligent processing and report by exception can minimise bandwidth requirements.
    • Full system diagnostics are provided, including battery state of charge, radio link strength and status and internal temperature.
    • Onward transmission methods include the following:
      • 2.4GHz FHSS radio model with long distance meshing capability and configurable as Ethernet Bridge (default).
      • 900 MHz FHSS radio model with long distance meshing capability.
      • GSM/GPRS.
      • VSAT, BGAN satellite options.
      • Short Burst Data using Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellites.
    • Using the default 2.4GHz radio option, up to 300 Field Transceivers can be configured in a single network segment, with multiple segments operating independently in parallel.
    • The low powered Field Transceiver has an optional power pack which includes battery, solar, wind or a combination charger and a sophisticated power management system.
    System Architecture

    • Zencus Mono-Transmitters at remote well sites transmit to a local Field Transceiver, with up to 200 Mono- Transmitters linking to a single Transceiver.
    • The Field Transceiver transmits received data over longer distances to the Zencus Gateway, directly or via additional Field Transceivers acting as mesh nodes, depending on positioning and topography. The use of a long distance mesh network ensures multiple transmission routes to the Gateway.
    • The physical number of Field Transceivers permissible in a Zencus network has a theoretical limit of 65,535 but practical considerations such as bandwidth limit individual networks to 100-300 units. Multiple independently addressed networks can co-exist and operate in parallel for larger installations.
    • The Zencus Gateway manages the network and delivers data into the Zencus Data Visualization system, the client SCADA system (directly or via a RTU) or both systems simultaneously when operating in parallel.
